20)GLASSWORKS BOHEMIA PODEBRADY Sklárny (glassworks) Bohemia is rich in tradition in the manufacture and sale of products made of lead crystal. The company specializes in hand-made decorative pieces as well as utility glass. The company developed its rich tradition from its establishment in 1876, and maintains its practice of high quality with a wide assortment of lead crystal works. Beginning with the manufacture of utility natrium-potassium glass, the glassworks switched over to the more popular lead crystal in 1927. This tradition has continued into the present day. Sklarny Bohemia's products have been renowned from the very beginning for their high quality and artistic value, as well as the inherent aesthetic qualities of lead crystal. The quality was due to the high level of skill and professionalism of the glass-makers and designers in Podìbrady. Today, the company's product line covers around 50,000 types of products made of hand-cut or pressed lead crystal, particularly household, table, drinking and decorative glass works. At the moment, Sklárny Bohemia is creating its own products in the style of the Czech glassmaking school and producing custom works to order for clients throughout the world. 21)NIZBOR CRYSTAL FACTORY The factory is owned again by the original family that continues in the famous tradition of glass-making. The wonderful hand cut glass immediately gaines its admirers.  22) NOVY BOR CRYSTAL FACTORIES - SHOPPING TRIP Novy Bor is a quaint town famous for its crystal—the craft has been taught there since 1763 in a famous, still-existing high school. Its first crystal factory, one of Europe’s oldest, has been continuously producing since 1414. There are a total of four crystal factories there, along with 17 small workshops. They specialize in art glass and unusual chandeliers (people interesting in buying chandeliers can do it in the local shops or can go to the town of Kamenicky Senov, 15 km from Novy Bor). 
 In Novy Bor, we’ll see the Hantych Egermann factory,founded in 1861, which holds the world patent for so-called Egermann red lazur - decorating the glass by staining known as "Egermann glass". Friedrich Egermann invented this technique in 1830. They specialize in lead-free crystal and art glass, and have provided the stained glass for many churches. The firm is a producer of hand-made soda-potash Bohemian glass, seventy percent is for export . Come to see the work of glassmakers, artists, engravers, painters and cutters , you can try to blow the crystal as well. One of the most famous designers worked here as well - the world famous Borek Sipek , that worked for instance also for the president Mitterandt and our president Havel and supplies with his products the Danish royal family . Glass is available for purchase at shops in the city center and at the factories themselves. We also suggest a trip to the crystal museum in the 1804 Empire House (open Tuesday-Sunday, 9 to 4). Built by a glass merchant, the house has an anchor set next to it, the symbol of his overseas trading—espeically with America—in the mid-19th century. The Empire House’s store sells crystal jewelry and copies of pieces in its collection. The crystal factories are closed on weekends and during state holidays. 34) ARTISTIC GLASS TRIP  Join us; to see the glass-works of famous Czech artists in the South-East of the Czech Republic. During this tour we will také you to see glassworks of the famous Czech glass designer Jaroslav Svoboda, the famous artist who worked also as a professor in the Faculty of Applied Arts in Prague. After the end of the Communist Regime, he built up his own glass-works which you will see during this tour, and afterwards you can shop in his gallery-shop. Currently the factory specializes in hand-made, mouth-blown, and hot-shaped glass. The company´s production reflects the successful synergy of the craft of glass-making and artistic design. A rich variety of brilliant colors is then introduced using only the highest quality color rods. The glassworks Princ makes a very unique glass – they began using their own designs after the end of the Communist Regime. Also see the great artist Jindrich Dolezal making modern art , the pieces of which are in private museum collections all over the world.
